iM880B-L LR_Base - Long Range Radio Module

Product information "iM880B-L LR_Base - Long Range Radio Module"

The 'iM880B-L LR_Base' is a compact and low-cost radio module that operates in the unlicensed 868 MHz band and combines a powerful Cortex-M3 controller with the LoRa® transceiver SX1272 of Semtech Corporation. A sensitivity of up to -137 dBm and a maximum output power of +19 dBm result in a link budget of more than 156 dB. Even when reducing the output power to +14 dBm ranges beyond 12 km are feasible in free space (Line of Sight). The  'iM880B-L LR_Base' is pre-certified according to the European RED guideline and can be soldered like an SMD component.

The 'iM880B-L LR_Base' includes an embedded protocol stack which allows the setting of six orthogonal spreading sequences, four error correction schemes and three signal bandwidths and thus offers the user a high degree of flexibility. Furthermore it provides various options for configuration and communication via the serial interface. In addition, it is possible to integrate customer specific applications on request.

The Radio Module is pre-programmed with LR_Base, a propritary protocol.

iC880A-SPI - LoRaWAN Concentrator 868 MHz
iC880A-SPI - LoRaWAN Concentrator 868 MHz

The iC880A-SPI is able to receive packets of different end devices send with different spreading factors on up to 8 channels in parallel. Due to the fact that the combination of spreading factors and signal bandwidths results in different data rates the use of “Dynamic Data-Rate Adaption” becomes possible. That means that LoRa® nodes with high distances from the concentrator must use higher spreading factors and therefore have a lower data rate. LoRa-nodes which are closer to the concentrator can use lower spreading factors and therefore can increase their data rate. This allows to build easy to handle star or multiple star networks without the need of routers or repeaters. Note: To connect a SMA Antenna (i.e. Art. 404811) it requires an u.fl-to-SMA cable (Art. 404812). LoRaWAN™ is a trademark of LoRa Alliance™, LoRa® is a registered trademark of Semtech. iM282A-L LR_Base Plus - Long Range Radio Module

The 'iM282A-L LR_Base Plus' is a compact and low-cost radio module that operates in the unlicensed 2.45 GHz band and combines a powerful Cortex-M3 controller with the new ultra long range transceiver SX1280 of Semtech Corporation. It has been specifically designed for battery driven applications and is able to achieve without any additional amplifiers a LoS range of more than 10 km. The WiMOD LR Base Plus firmware provides LoRa®-modem functionalities which allows to implement proprietary and cost sensitive radio networks with typical topologies like peer-to-peer and star configurations. The embedded radio protocol stack offers unacknowledged and acknowledged radio packet exchange with optional encryption and automatic power saving for battery driven applications. Besides the modem services the firmware includes some example features which are typical for the application area of this LoRa® radio modules: a tiny sensor application which demonstrates a periodic sensor data transmission and a remote control with digital input/ouput via radio link. Finally the supporting software provides two analizing tools, which are helpful in developing radio based applications:  Radio Link Test application which allows to analyze the radio link quality for different LoRa® radio settings by means of the typical metrics Packet RSSI, Packet SNR and Packet Error Rate Radio Packet Sniffer which forwards received radio packets These embedded development tools and all the other features can be used in combination with WiMOD LR Studio which offers an easy to use configuration, logging capabilities and data visualisation.
